Serviced apartment vs hotel in Manchester: which is right for you

We run serviced apartments, so you know where our bias sits. But the honest answer to “apartment or hotel” is that it depends on the trip, and there are trips where a hotel is the better call. Here is how we would actually decide.

What a serviced apartment gives you

Space. A separate living room, a bedroom that is not also your desk and your dining table, and room to breathe. For anything longer than a night or two, the difference is enormous.

A real kitchen. Not a kettle and a minibar, a proper kitchen. You can make breakfast, keep a fridge, cook a meal, and skip the £27 hotel breakfast entirely. Over a few days that adds up to real money and a lot more comfort.

Value for groups and longer stays. One apartment usually costs less than the equivalent hotel rooms for a family or a group, and the per-night price tends to fall the longer you stay.

A local, not a chain. You get somewhere with character, in a real neighbourhood, run by people who live in the city and can tell you where to eat.

What a hotel gives you

A front desk at 3am. If you value someone physically there around the clock, a hotel has that and an apartment does not.

Daily housekeeping. Your room cleaned every day without asking. In a serviced apartment cleaning is typically between stays, not daily.

On-site extras. A gym, a bar, a restaurant, a pool in the smarter ones, all under one roof.

Single-night simplicity. For a quick one-night stop where you arrive late and leave early, a hotel is hard to beat on sheer convenience.

How to actually choose

Stay in a serviced apartment when you are here for more than a night or two, when you are travelling as a family or a group, when you want to cook or keep proper food in, when space matters, or when you are settling in for a longer stay. That covers most trips to Manchester, honestly.

Stay in a hotel when it is a single night, when you specifically want a 24-hour front desk or daily housekeeping, or when on-site facilities like a pool are the point of the trip.

The direct-booking bit
